Washington, Sep 27 (RHC) Tim Craine, a tireless fighter against the U.S. blockade of Cuba, died at the age of 77 in Windsor, Connecticut, after a months-long battle with cancer.

Candidate for governor for the state of Michigan in 1982, Craine was one of the leaders of the Hartford Coalition for Solidarity with the Caribbean nation.

In declarations to the press last April regarding the actions against the unilateral siege of the White House against the largest of the Antilles, he pointed out that the battle will not end "until the blockade against the Cuban people falls".

"Everytime we will be more and more and we will look for all possible ways to reach the political decision makers", he said, insisting that those cruel sanctions "harm the most vulnerable people, constitute a crime against humanity, besides being illegal, unjust and also affect the Americans".

An active member and leader of the Socialist Workers Party for five decades, Timothy (Tim) V. Craine was born on October 6, 1943 and his physical departure occurred this September 25. (Source: Prensa Latina)
