Havana, October 22 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel stressed that the country must seek intelligent solutions to problems such as inflation or shortages in the face of a scenario of continued blockade by the United States.

During the last meeting of the Council of Ministers, the president expressed his conviction about the continuity of Washington's siege. Therefore, he urged the authorities to think about the nation's potentialities to overcome this situation.

The head of state mentioned the population's criteria on inflation, the shortage of basic commodities, the relationship between salary and price increase, issues that he asked to face with a different disposition.

'What we have done today with the neighborhoods has nothing to do with the blockade and it could be done, it was in the plans, there was simply inertia, it was more subjective than objective, we cannot let ourselves be defeated by the situations, on the contrary, he pointed out.

According to a national television report, Díaz-Canel insisted on addressing social problems with people's participation.

This 'gives us the opportunity once again to dismantle the enemy's plans and demonstrate the capacity of the Revolution, that is why we must continue working on consensus, maintaining unity, recognizing the resistance capacity of this people and the dignity with which they have been acting.'

The leader reflected on the context in which Cuba was developing after more than a year of the Covid-19 outbreak and highlighted the gradual transformation of the economy in recent months.
