Havana, November 13 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel said Friday that the island's future will be one of hope, prosperity, and citizen security, distinctive bulwarks amid a complex international environment.

In a special radio and television appearance, the President referred to the attempts to destabilize the constitutional order orchestrated from the United States against the nation, based on provocations planned for next 15th, when the country will open its borders and resume the school year.

In this regard, the head of state said that Cuba's example makes those who oppose it uncomfortable. Therefore, citizens must be alert to face any interference to their sovereignty and independence.

Díaz-Canel mentioned the achievements exhibited during the difficult situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, including the opening of the CIGB-Mariel biotechnological plant with 100 percent Cuban capital and the measures to favor the production and marketing of foodstuffs and business improvement.

He also added the application of science and innovation in priority issues for the country's plan and the involvement of jurists, experts, academics, and scientists in the monitoring and developing of economic programs.

"The most recent session of the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament) approved four laws that, in matters of defense of people's rights, are advanced, respect rights and multiply participation," the dignitary remarked.

He pointed out that Cuba is a nation that defends a project of genuine socialist Revolution, which is not clandestine in power, and emphasized its constant renewal based on the participation of the people.

In another moment of his speech, he alluded to the solidarity offered to other countries and the capacity of a society open to dialogue and debate but closed to "the pressure and blackmail of foreign interference".

"In peace, we have achieved the first vaccines, and on the 15th, we will begin another stage of the school year, and in peace, we will recover our economy, at ease, vigilant and safe," Díaz-Canel concluded.
