Russia' s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Riabkov.
Moscow, November 30 (RHC)-- Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Riabkov stated that the United States increases pressure on Latin American countries based on the Monroe Doctrine, local media reported.
At a meeting of the Federation Council (Senate) Provisional Commission to Protect State Sovereignty and the Prevention of Interference in Russia's Internal Affairs, the official warned about implementing such a policy by the White House.
"Guided by the imperialist Monroe Doctrine, politicians in Washington continue to increase pressure on Nicaragua, Venezuela, and other Latin American countries by telling them how and by what standards to live," Riabkov said, according to TASS news agency.
Likewise, the Russian deputy foreign minister denounced the US government's blockade policy towards Cuba, which he described as "illegal and archaic" while stressing its rejection by the international community.
On June 23, 184 countries voted in favor of the draft resolution Necessity of Ending the Economic, Commercial, and Financial Blockade Imposed by the United States against Cuba at the resumption of the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
For the twenty-ninth time, the majority of the world's nations categorically demanded, in the main deliberative body of the United Nations, the lifting of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the island by Washington for 62 years.
