Vice Foreign Minitser Josefina Vidal.
Havana, December 9 (RHC)-- Cuba will host the 20th Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) on December 14.
A Granma newspaper article on Friday recalled that 17 years ago, Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez defined a course of struggle and resistance, of optimism and hopes, of solidarity and integration, which has led the Alliance member states to 2021.
The text added that long before the previous meeting -held in June of this year-, the members and the rest of the world have lived through complex and challenging months.
Speaking to Granma, Deputy Foreign Minister Josefina Vidal Ferreiro said that the 20th ALBA-TCP Summit will evaluate the prospects for strengthening the Alliance and other cardinal issues for our nations.
"It will be a propitious occasion - she said - to reaffirm our commitment to unity and integration, to share opinions and points of view on the development of our nations at the present juncture, and for the creation of joint strategies that will enable us to face the adverse conditions in the post-pandemic stage".
Vidal said that the main challenges faced by ALBA-TCP are focused on how to fulfill its plans and goals amid the brutal conditions imposed by the pandemic, the unilateral coercive measures applied against the several Member States, the intensification of the blockade, and the hegemonic pretensions of imperialism in Our America.
