Hanoi, December 28 (RHC)-- Vietnam and Cuba agreed Tuesday to create conditions for their enterprises to take advantage of tariff preferences to increase trade and bilateral cooperation.

During the 39th  Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, co-chaired by Vietnamese Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi and Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca, the parties reviewed the Action Plan to implement the 2021-2025 Economic Agenda.

In this context, and in virtual format, they agreed to continue developing Vietnam's advisory program for rice and corn cultivation in Cuba and aquaculture as a contribution to food security on the island.

The Cuban representation pledged to create conditions for the various Vietnamese companies with investments in the Caribbean nation to proceed with their projects.

The Cuban Ministry of Health reiterated its willingness to complete the shipment of anti-Covid-19 vaccines to Vietnam and transfer the technology to produce immunizers so that the country can manufacture them on its own.

The delegations also agreed to intensify cooperation in agriculture, food processing, construction, renewable energies, science and technology, information and communications, tourism, education, customs, banking and finance, sports and labor, and social affairs.

On this occasion, a memorandum of understanding was signed on collaboration in culture.

On December 2, 1960, Cuba became the first Latin American country to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam.

In the 61 years since then, the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, forged when the Indochinese nation was fighting for its independence, have been in permanent development and are a paradigm of how ties between States should be.

The most recent expression of the nature of these relations was the visit of President Xuan Phuc to Cuba last September when the parties expressed in a joint declaration the will to increase trade and bilateral cooperation.
