Havana, January 19 (RHC)-- The Cuban Telecommunications Company (ETECSA) reported that 80 percent of the Popular Councils (communities) have Internet access, an achievement that impacts the quality of life of its inhabitants.

By the end of 2021, the entity quantified more than seven million mobile lines, with more than five thousand radio bases in the national territory, bringing 4g technology to all municipal capitals.

ETECSA's president, Tania Velázquez, stressed that the Company achieved this result amid the intensification of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States on this Caribbean country.

It is a priority to benefit rural areas. In fact, in 2021, the Internet service reached another 79 intricate and difficult to reach places, she said.

By 2022, he said, Etecsa will create more facilities for e-commerce, enabling new ways to access the Internet from homes.

Among the actions undertaken was reducing rates for mobile messaging and international navigation.
