Cuba confirms six deaths and 1,149 cases of COVID-19 in last 24 hours
Havana, February 11 (RHC)-- The Cuban Ministry of Public Health reported on Friday six deaths and 1,149 positive samples for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours, for an accumulated total of 1,058,946 diagnoses since the beginning of the disease in the nation.
At the end of yesterday, February 10, a total of 14,809 patients had been admitted, 9,329 were suspected, 112 were under surveillance and 5,368 were confirmed active.
For COVID-19, a total of 17,331 samples were taken for surveillance during the day, with 1,149 positive for a 6.6% positivity rate. The country accumulates 12 million 862 thousand 479 samples performed and 1 million 058 thousand 946 positive (8.2%).
Of the total number of cases (1,149): 1,119 were contacts of confirmed cases, 21 with source of infection abroad and 9 with no source of infection specified. Of the 629 diagnosed cases, 540 were female and 520 male.
Of the 1,149 positive cases, 7.05% (81) were asymptomatic, making a total of 144,217 cases, representing 13.6% of those confirmed to date. Of the 951 diagnosed cases belonged to the following age groups: under 20 years of age (290), 20 to 39 years of age (271), 40 to 59 years of age (335), 60 and over (253).
Of the 1,058,946 patients diagnosed with the disease, 5,368 (0.51%) remain hospitalized, of whom 5,322 (99.1%) have a stable clinical course. There were 8,460 deaths (6 during the day), with a case fatality rate of 0.80% vs. 1.43% in the world and 1.8% in the Americas; 2 evacuated and 57 returned to their countries. During the day there were 1,291 discharges, 1,045,059 patients recovered (98.7%). There are 46 confirmed patients in intensive care, of which 20 are critical and 26 are serious.
During the day, 6 patients died. We deeply regret what happened and convey our condolences to their families and friends.
As of February 10, 191 countries and 32 territories have reported cases of COVID-19, with 404 million 728 thousand 943 confirmed cases (+ 2 million 376 thousand 264), 74 million 273 thousand 955 active cases and 5 million 799 thousand 544 deaths (+ 13 thousand 333) for a case fatality rate of 1.43% (-0.01).
In the Americas region, 143 million 672 thousand 390 confirmed cases (+ 618 thousand 337) were reported, 35.50% of the total number of cases reported in the world, with 34 million 544 thousand 769 active cases and 2 million 585 thousand 198 deaths (+ 6 thousand 803) for a case fatality rate of 1.8% (=).
