Miami, July 19 (RHC)-- The Miami-based Alianza Martiana organization has called a conference in Miami for tomorrow, Sunday, at the Hotel Embassy Suites to demand the release of the three Cuban anti-terrorist fighters still held in U.S. prisons, according to a statement sent to our newsroom by activist Andres Gomez, editor of Areito Digital publication.
Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino and Antonio Guerrero are serving unfair and extremely long prison sentences in U.S. jails after they, along with Rene Gonzalez and Fernando Gonzalez, monitored South Florida-based ultra-right organizations that planned terrorist actions against Cuba.
While Fernando and Rene returned to Cuba after fully serving their sentences, the other three anti-terrorist fighters remain imprisoned despite huge international claim for their release.
The international movement demanding their release, of which we are part, is aware of the huge responsibility we have to have justice been made in the case of the three compatriots, whose mission, we all know was to prevent terrorist actions against our families in Cuba and the rest of the people on the island, the statement by Gomez stressed.
The conference, to be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the hotel’s Key Biscayne Hall, will also tackle the impossibility by the Cuban consulate in Washington to process payments in U.S. banks for travel documents to Cuba. The Barack Obama administration has the power to soon solve this situation which is a result of the inhumane blockade against the Cuban people.
