Havana, July 11 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel stressed that the actions carried out in Cuba for the transformation of neighborhoods considered vulnerable have an integral and permanent character.

In statements to the television program Ruta 10, the president emphasized that these actions are an expression of the continuity of the thinking of revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, who in his visits to these sites noted the vulnerabilities and potentialities for the improvement of the living conditions of the population.

He affirmed that Fidel Castro believed that socialism was built with conscience, not only with resources, so he always promoted community work.

These actions in vulnerable neighborhoods are aimed at improving infrastructure, services and raising the quality of life of their inhabitants as part of a government plan to promote the development of the country from the communities.

In this regard, the President pointed out that the work in these sites is based on dialogue with the neighbors, who actively participate and control the work carried out with the contribution of various institutions.

In this sense, he highlighted the support of universities, and of students in general, in the diagnosis of problems and vulnerabilities.

He also pointed out the relevance of developing and improving methods of participation and popular control to guarantee the success of the actions carried out.

It is, he said, an integral program that emphasizes the cultural and spiritual growth of the people, and takes into account the creation of jobs and opportunities for the development of the people who live in these communities.

I am convinced that with what we have we can win a little piece every day to the problems, and work in the material and human, in the spiritual, to provide hope and future, and propose new things, he said.

Díaz-Canel informed that a national workshop will be held this year to socialize the best practices in the integral transformation of the country's vulnerable communities, with the purpose of promoting this program.

We are committed to continuity, to follow in the footsteps of two giants, Fidel (Castro) and Raúl (Castro), and of a Revolution that is bigger than us, and we are convinced that we will win, he concluded.
