Havana, July 16 (RHC)-- The leaders of the parliaments of Cuba and China advocated expanding and strengthening the relations that the legislative bodies of both nations currently maintain and joint work in multilateral forums.

During a virtual meeting on Friday, Yolanda Ferrer, president of the International Relations Commission at the National People’s Power Assembly (ANPP, Parliament), told her Chinese counterpart, Zhang Yesui, that those ties are characterized by mutual political trust and multifaceted cooperation.

According to the source, Ferrer expressed to Zhang the Cuban people’s gratitude for the permanent position of the Chinese Government in support of Cuba against the United States blockade at the United Nations General Assembly, as well as its solidarity during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Cuban lawmaker noted that both Assemblies could play a much more effective role in boosting economic, trade, and financial relations between the two nations.

She reaffirmed the unequivocal position to support the One China principle and condemned the interference in China’s internal affairs in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Tibet, and Xinjiang.

During the meeting, the two legislators addressed issues of mutual interest, aspects of the work plan for the coming months, and other international matters, the ANPP stated.
