Havana, July 20 (RHC)-- Cuba's Tourism Minister Juan Carlos García Granda told the Services Commission of the National Assembly of People's Power (Cuban Parliament) on Wednesday that the country is projecting the arrival of 1.105 million visitors for the July-October period.

In activities before the 9th ordinary period of sessions of the Parliament, Garcia added that to these figures would be added those of November and December with a greater dynamic in the tourism sector, similar to that of 2019, which contributes to the purpose of reaching in 2022  2.5 million visitors.

García Granda added that Cuba, like the rest of the world, is still working on recovering the sector affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. For that purpose, the difficulties that persist, mainly related to currency exchange, hygiene, the infrastructure of cities, and transportation, must be addressed.

He said that the territorial governments could contribute to the quality of the tourist product by protecting the supply of electricity and drinking water to the facilities, providing services for their maintenance, supporting the campsites with supplies, and seeking alternatives for the transportation of workers and campers.

The official added that for this year's summer season, there are 363 hotels in operation, with 118 nightclubs, 436 swimming pools, and 657 hotel restaurants.
