Artemisa, August 27 (RHC)-- Cuban President  Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez highlighted the country's efforts and the sector's workers in recovering the electricity system.

During a visit to the Máximo Gómez Thermoelectric Power Plant (CTE) in the municipality of Mariel, accompanied by the province's top authorities, he checked the work to restore the breakdowns in several of its units, especially in Block 8, which went out of service on Friday night and was expected to be back on the grid Saturday afternoon.

The President said that in each thermoelectric power plant he has visited, he has witnessed the worker's intense work under challenging conditions for many hours to recover the generation capacity in the shortest possible time.

He reiterated that the media systematically provide updated information on the situation of the national power grid, which has generated annoying blackouts.

Such a scenario, he said, has nothing to do with enemy activity or negligence of the workers of the sector, and it does have to do with the affectations caused for years by the blockade.

This policy, he added, left the country without possible financing for maintenance, repairs, and new investments needed in the electric power system, hence the accumulated technological deterioration that cannot be solved overnight.
