Havana, August 29 (RHC) --The leader of the Cuban Revolution, Army General Raúl Castro, and President Miguel Díaz-Canel, visited on Monday the  "Lidio Ramón Pérez" Power Plant, in Felton, in the eastern municipality of Mayarí, in the province of Holguín.

They talked with managers and workers, who provided detailed information on the actions being undertaken in adjusting and measuring loads in the turbine bearings of the damaged turbine in Block 1, as well as the start-up of the spinner.

They also learned about the rehabilitation and recovery strategy for unit 2, damaged by a major fire on July 8.

The specialists explained that the priority of all these works is focused on the safe entry of the Block 1 machine and the performance of the necessary checks before the synchronization with the National Electric PowerGrid (SEN), which should occur in the next few days.

During the meeting, Díaz-Canel again explained the goals of the strategy outlined for the recovery of the National Power Grid and pointed out that to achieve them, it is necessary for Felton to meet its commitments.

Recently, the Cuban head of state expressed that the goal is to minimize blackouts before the end of the year.

He also stated that the U.S. blockade against Cuba is mainly responsible for the complex situation of the electricity generation system in the country.

He confirmed that this unilateral policy limits the necessary maintenance of the plants and causes instability in the service due to the accumulated technological deterioration.
