Havana, September 10 (RHC)-- To increase cooperation in the fight against illegal migrant smuggling, Cuban border troops and the U.S. Coast Guard held a technical meeting on Friday.
In a statement published on its website, the Ministry of the Interior reported that the delegations of both countries highlighted the usefulness of these meetings and agreed on the importance of advancing collaboration in this area.
During the encounter, both parties also discussed how to promote operational cooperation in the fight against illegal departures and illicit drug trafficking, as well as maritime search and rescue operations.
This year, the U.S. Coast Guard has returned more than 4,000 Cubans in 74 operations carried out by the Orozco port in Artemisa.
