Havana, Sep 26 (RHC) The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel checked on Monday with the country's top authorities on the fulfillment of measures to face Hurricane Ian, about to hit the western part of the territory.

On his Twitter account, the head of state called to take advantage of the hours before the situation becomes more complex, prioritizing the protection of citizens.

"We must maintain extreme vigilance because we will have the greatest effects from night to dawn, and we must be fully activated to be aware of everything that is happening," said the president.

He insisted on the fulfillment of all measures for the protection of the population to avoid the loss of human lives, and to preserve the main means and resources available to the country.

The governors of the provinces and Isla de la Juventud reported on the measures that have been adopted in each place to preserve the lives of the people, with emphasis on the neighborhoods and settlements where residents must be evacuated, especially in low areas prone to flooding due to rain or sea penetrations.  (Source: ACN)
