Latin America must continue as a zone of peace

Havana, Oct 4 (RHC) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez affirmed Tuesday that the territories of Latin America and the Caribbean are and must continue to be peace zones.

In his Twitter account, the foreign minister noted that "peace is a right and unfortunately for many still a dream; we must not rest until we achieve it."

In his message on the social network, he alluded to the resumption of negotiations between the Colombian Government and the National Liberation Army, in which Cuba, Venezuela, and Norway are guarantors.

On this day, the delegations of the Colombian State and the National Liberation Army agreed to restart peace dialogues as of November, based on the set of agreements and progress achieved since the signing of the agenda on March 30, 2016.

The Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a peace zone was established by the Community of Latin American and the Caribbean States during the celebration of the second summit of that organization, held in Havana.

The document states that the nations of the area will work permanently for the peaceful settlement of disputes, "to banish forever the use and threat of the use of force". (Source: PL)
