Havana, October 23 (RHC)-- The European Forum of Left, Green and Progressive Forces condemned on Sunday in Athens, the capital of Greece, the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba and the extraterritorial nature of that policy.

In the final declaration of the sixth edition of the platform, which took place from October 21 to 23, it rejected all types of unilateral coercive measures, especially the siege imposed by Washington on the island, and recalled its application for more than six decades.

Likewise, it repudiated the extraterritorial scope of the blockade against Cuba, which it described as illegal and contrary to International Law.

The European Forum demanded the support of the forces it represents to the progressive governments of Latin America struggling to achieve integration and a definitive end to the neocolonialist exploitation of their resources and wealth.

In other points of the declaration, it advocated initiatives for the cancellation of the debt that traps African countries and for the adoption of measures to combat the consequences of climate change.

The text also includes the concern of the left, green and progressive organizations of the continent about the strengthening of fascist tendencies and parties, a phenomenon attributed to a period of crisis of capitalism.

"This advance of fascism in Europe should make us reflect self-critically on our inability to transmit the horror of this ideology to young people and raise a strong, direct and solvent response capable of challenging it," he warned.

Likewise, the platform called for peace and a response to the crisis that avoids that the working class and the popular layers of society in Europe pay the consequences of an economic situation of neoliberalism.

The European Forum is considered one of the main political spaces of pluralist exchange of ideas in favor of democratic, social, pacifist, ecological and feminist transformations.
