Cuban-Russian Intergovernmental Commission

Moscow, Nov 18 (RHC) Russian Vice President Dimitri Chernishenko and Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas headed the 19th Session of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic and Scientific-Technical Collaboration between the two countries.

The parties discussed issues related to Cuba's main economic and social development programs, in areas such as energy, transportation, education, agriculture, public health, culture and tourism, science, technology, and the environment.

Both delegations agreed to work on the approval of a new Bilateral Economic Agenda which includes the main areas and strategic directions of bilateral cooperation in the economic, commercial, financial, and collaboration spheres with a perspective until the year 2030.

They assessed the international situation, including the factors that today hinder the development of both countries, particularly the intensified economic, commercial, and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba, and the unjust sanctions imposed on Russia.

Finally, it was agreed that the twentieth session of this commission will be held in Havana in 2023, on a date yet to be specified.

During his visit to Moscow, Deputy Prime Minister Cabrisas also held meetings with Deputy Foreign Minister Serguei Riabkov and with Ivan Melnikov, Deputy Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma or lower house of parliament.

Cabrisas was also received by Deputy Vadim Kumin, deputy chairman of the Finance Committee of Duma, by the president of Rosneft, Igor Sechin, and by directors of the state bank Gazprombank. (Source: PL)
