Esteban Lazo continues activities during his visit to Russia

 

Moscow, Dec 1 (RHC) The president of the Cuban Parliament, Esteban Lazo, will hold a meeting today with the vice president of the Russian Security Council, Dimitri Medvedev, as part of the program of his second working day in the Eurasian nation.

 

The head of Cuba's Council of State will also hold meetings with high-ranking officials of the Federation.

 

Among them will be the First Deputy Speaker of the State Duma and Deputy Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Ivan Melnikov.

 

He will also meet the Deputy Prime Minister and co-chairman of the Russian-Cuban Intergovernmental Commission, Dimitri Chernishenko, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Serguei Lavrov.

 

The head of the Cuban Parliament will also attend a ballet performance at the iconic Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, invited by the Presidency of the Federation Council (Upper House of the legislative body).

 

On the previous day, Lazo had meetings with the leaders of the State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, and of the Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko, and addressed the plenary of the Upper House.

 

He also signed, together with Volodin, the Act of Establishment of the Commission for Collaboration between the State Duma of the Russian Federation and the National Assembly of People's Power of the Republic of Cuba, and conferred the Order of Solidarity to Valentina Matvienko.

 

The parliamentary leader, together with the Cuban parliamentary delegation, laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow.

Esteban Lazo arrived in Moscow last November 29 Russia as the first stage of a tour that will also include Belarus and Turkey.

 

This is the second time Lazo visits the Eurasian country as President of the National Assembly. The first visit was in 2016. (Source: PL)
