Havana, December 11 (RHC)-- The working commissions of the National Assembly of People's Power -Cuba's parliament- began their debates this Sunday in Havana with emphasis on economic issues and the country's legislative development.

The Economic Affairs Commission is in session with the participation of the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, and it discusses the estimated closing of the 2022 plan and the proposal for 2023, as well as the implementation of the 75 measures to face the country's situation.

Cuban deputies also learn about the current status and prospects of insurance for the national health system, an issue included in the agenda of the Health and Sports Commission, which will also discuss the strategy for baseball.

The construction of housing, the behavior of agricultural products, the situation of the education system and measures to fight crime are included in the agenda of the other nine working commissions.

During the day, which precedes the 10th ordinary period of sessions of the Cuban Parliament, the attendants will also approve the opinions of the six bills that will be submitted to scrutiny in the next few days.

The permanent working commissions of the National Assembly are constituted with the purpose of assisting the legislative body in its functions, for which they carry out studies and verifications that constitute control mechanisms of the people's power.

In the Economic Affairs Commission, the head of Economy and Planning, Mr. Alejandro Gil, expressed that a slight economic recovery can be seen, although the projected levels of exports have not been reached. He added that the lack of financial resources in foreign currency that the country needs has an impact in this respect.

He also pointed out that the tourism sector did not reach the estimated figures and something new this year is the international recharge in foreign currency in the cards.

There is a shift towards the national currency associated with an exchange rate above 24 pesos per dollar, in the informal market and since last August with the purchase and sale of official foreign currency at 120 pesos.
