Raul and Diaz-Canel attend sessions of the Cuban Parliament

Army General Raul Castro Ruz and Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, President of the Republic, attend the National Assembly of People's Power.

Havana, Dec 13 (RHC) Army General Raúl Castro Ruz and Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, are attending the 10th Ordinary Session of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP), in its 9th Legislature, at the Havana Convention Palace.

Esteban Lazo Hernández, member of the Political Bureau and president of the Cuban Parliament, is presiding over the meeting and Salvador Valdés Mesa, vice president of the Republic, is also present.

During Tuesday's meeting, the Prime Minister of the Republic, Manuel Marrero Cruz, will report on measures aimed at fighting crime, corruption, illegalities and social indiscipline.

Likewise, the demographic situation of the country will be discussed and the opinion of the different parliamentary commissions will be presented.

As part of the day's activities, the Draft Law on the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Cuba and the System of Superior Control of Public Funds and Administrative Management will be presented.

The Draft Law on Expropriation for Reasons of Public Utility or Social Interest will also be discussed. On the first day of sessions, the reports on the progress of the economy in 2022 were analyzed and the general objectives were presented, as well as the goals of the Economy Plan for 2023.

An update was also given on the recovery work in the province of Pinar del Río after the damages caused by Hurricane Ian in September.

The 10th Ordinary Period of Sessions of the National Assembly of People's Power will be held until December 14 at the Havana Convention Palace. (Source: ACN)
