Havana, December 16 (RHC)-- Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz toured on Friday several People's Councils in the municipality of Gibara, in the eastern province of Holguin, to evaluate the revival in the communities and the impact of government management in the face of the territory's needs.
The also deputy to the Cuban Parliament for that demarcation was interested in the treatment of prioritized families and people with social problems, and emphasized the construction systems of housing, roads, unemployment and lighting of public spaces.
He particularly evaluated the constructive state of the 18th Street, of the Popular Council 2, one of the constant claims of the locals, due to the bad state of that road, and there he verified the quality of the work.
In addition, he was interested in the preservation of the heritage of the coastal city, particularly the tile houses that distinguish the landscape of the village.
"It is necessary to create an authentic product to exploit Gibara as a tourist destination, and for that we must think about the city and its inhabitants, as well as the incentive of culture and gastronomy," he added.
Marrero Cruz exchanged with his constituents about the progress of local self-sufficiency, one of the issues that most affect the people of Gibara, so he urged the authorities to review the plans for production, marketing and food prices in markets and state and private outlets, to achieve a better match between supply and demand.
The head of government was accompanied by Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the province; and Julio César Estupiñán Rodríguez, governor of Holguín.
He also toured the La Vigía viewpoint and the community of El Güirito, where he exchanged with his constituents, and there he also visited the private restaurant La Cueva Taína, a reference of local gastronomy.
