Havana, Jan 1 (RHC) The people of Santiago de Cuba paid tribute this Sunday to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, on the 64th anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution, by laying white flowers in front of the monolith where his ashes rest in the Santa Ifigenia Patrimonial Cemetery.
On behalf of the Cuban people, José Ramón Monteagudo and Beatriz Johnson, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the territory, and Governor, respectively, led the tribute.
According to Yanet Despaigne, in charge of the ideological sphere in the provincial secretariat of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba, on this anniversary, the trade union movement reiterated its intention to follow the leader's example.
The tribute was attended by members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, leaders of political and mass organizations, and a representation of the people of Santiago.
Fidel Castro, the heir to the independence ideas of José Martí, led the struggle for the continuity and success of the revolutionary process and defended without distinctions access to education, health, sports, culture, and science in the country. (Source: ACN).
