Havana, Jan 15 (Red Web) The first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulated this Sunday the country's scientific community on the occasion of the celebration of Cuban Science Day.
In his Twitter profile, the dignitary stressed that every day our scientists prove it is possible to advance in society despite the difficult circumstances imposed by the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States for more than 60 years.
He also pointed out that with talent, discipline, and perseverance we can develop. They are our best inspiration. "Thank you for your example," he emphasized.
In another message on the same social network, the head of state evoked the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz (1926-2016) for his clear vision that the nation's independence depends fundamentally on science and technology.
Cuban Science Day was celebrated the day before with a ceremony in the central province of Sancti Spiritus, in which the outstanding work of several groups and scientists from all over the country was recognized.
At the activity, the Minister of Science, Technology, and Environment, Elba Rosa Pérez Montoya (pictured), said 2023 is a year of challenges and hopes.
