Cardinal Beniamino Stella, Pope Francis' envoy for the 25th anniversary of John Paul II's Apostolic Journey to Cuba, visited a Maternity Home in the province of Cienfuegos
Havana, Jan 30 (RHC) Cardinal Beniamino Stella, Pope Francis' envoy for the 25th anniversary of John Paul II's Apostolic Journey to Cuba, visited this Monday the Maternity Home of the 'Ernesto Guevara de la Serna' polyclinic, in the province of Cienfuegos.
At the facility, he exchanged with pregnant women and health authorities of Cienfuegos.
The Cardinal learned about the care received by the mothers-to-be and congratulated them for making possible the gift of life.
Dr. Dumeiby García Sánchez, Health Director in the municipality, explained the characteristics of the specialized service for pregnant women at obstetric risk who are attended to carry their pregnancies to term.
She also mentioned the limitations caused by the economic, commercial, and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba, a genocidal policy that hinders access to essential medicines for the care of hospitalized women.

As part of the pastoral activities, Stella officiated a mass in the San José sanctuary, located in the town of Paraíso.
"May St. Joseph bless all the people of Cienfuegos, who can find in this patron saint an example, a hope, and a reason for faith in difficult moments", he summarized.
Stella was accompanied by Archbishop Giampiero Gloder, Apostolic Nuncio to Cuba; Father Ariel Suárez, assistant secretary of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the nation; and Monsignor Domingo Oropesa Lorente, Bishop of Cienfuegos. (Source: ACN)
