Dr.Hugo Pérez

Havana, Jan 31 (RHC) The Cuban Academy of Sciences today congratulated Dr.Hugo Pérez, after being recognized with the Spirit of Salam 2023 award, for his dedication to Theoretical Physics.

The award was also given to scientists Federico Rosei, from Italy; and Tino Nyawelo, from South Sudan.

Pérez is a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Cybernetics, Mathematics, and Physics, the center where he founded the Department of Theoretical Physics.

Spirit of Salam is an award given annually in honor of Mohammad Abdus Salam (1926-1996), a Pakistani theoretical physicist who received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1979.

The scientist stood out for his work on the electroweak model, a mathematical and conceptual synthesis of electromagnetism and the weak nuclear force. (Source: PL)
