Venezuelan President Maduro evokes Cuban Commander Camilo Cienfuegos
Caracas, Feb 6 (RHC) Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Monday evoked Cuban Commander Camilo Cienfuegos on his 91st birthday.
On his Twitter account, the president wrote that the man known as the Lord of the Vanguard forged his character in the heat of the sacrifice of the guerrilla struggle for Cuba’s freedom.
He will always be remembered together with Fidel (Castro), as a great popular leader,’ Maduro added.
Camilo Cienfuegos, who is also known as the Hero of Yaguajay, a place in central Cuba, was born on February 6, 1932, in the neighborhood of Lawton, in Havana, and died on October 28, 1959, while he was carrying out a mission from the high leadership of the Revolution in the central-eastern province of Camagüey.
Camilo Cienfuegos joined the revolutionary struggle against the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship at a very young age. He was one of the members of the expedition that came from Mexico on the Granma yacht and was promoted to the rank of commander in the Sierra Maestra, where he stood out for his courage.
