National elections in Cuba, a moment of unity

 

Pinar del Río, Feb 7 (RHC) Intellectual Abel Prieto defined the national elections to be held on March 26 as a moment of unity in Cuba.

 

 

 Nominated as a candidate for the western municipality of Pinar del Río, Prieto, together with the rest of the selected candidates, toured centers of economic and social interest of this territory to materialize the dialogue with the people, a democratic exercise that precedes the voting at that level.

 

In his words, he recalled the call to say yes to the homeland made by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, in 1993.

 

There is a strong campaign orchestrated by the U.S. administration to break the unity of the people and sabotage a process characterized by transparency, he added.

 

The young journalist Dorelys Canivel, also nominated by the head municipality of Pinar del Río, defined this type of meetings as a source that nurtures the actions of those who will represent the people in the highest state body.

 

Candidates and workers spoke a common language in favor of the advancement of the Cuban social project.

 

At the Tobacco Collection and Processing Company in Pinar del Río, the corner of the tobacco massif, managers and workers presented the progress of the recovery after the passage of Hurricane Ian on September 27, which left heavy damages to the main economic activity of the province.

 

They were joined by representatives of the Jaguey-Cuyují Popular Council, a rural area of the municipality that is also repairing its housing fund, which was damaged by the winds caused by the storm.

 

The general progress of the recovery was pointed out by the candidate Yamilé Ramos, the first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in this province, the most affected by the hydrometeorological event and scene of the real solidarity of the island.

 

The union between organizations and institutions to support the victims has been a constant, said Ramos, who also highlighted the help received from the rest of the provinces.

 

The tour of the candidates for deputies also included other organizations of economic and social interest and one of the micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise of great acceptance for the options it offers to young people. 

 

In full democratic exercise and accordance with the Electoral Law, the western province of Pinar del Río elected 27 candidates for deputies to the Parliament. (Prensa Latina)
