President Díaz-Canel thanks Cuban university for leading him to science

Havana, Feb 7 (RHC) The first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel thanked his professors at the Marta Abreu Central University (UCLV) of Las Villas for leading him to science and innovation as decisive factors for the country's development.

 

The head of state talked with professors and students of the university in that city, 268 kilometers east of Havana, along with seven other candidates for deputies of the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament).

At UCLV, Díaz-Canel graduated as an electronic engineer in 1982. In May 2021 he got his doctorate in Technical Sciences, with research on Government Management Systems based on Science and Innovation for sustainable development.

 

The Cuban president highlighted the role of the institution and its scientific contributions to the sugar industry and other entities of the territory and praised the purpose of its professors in building a scientific-technological park.

 

He also called to produce more and more efficiently, and to achieve greater social justice for the 11 million Cubans.

 

President Díaz-Canel continued his second day in Santa Clara with exchanges in urban communities, factories, and artisans' squares, just as the other 469 candidates to the legislature, whose elections will be held on March 26. (Source: Prensa Latina)
