Havana, Feb 21 (RHC) Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, President of the Republic, sent condolences to the Brazilian people and its president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, for the loss of human lives during the heavy rains that have hit the state of Sao Paulo.
Through his Twitter account, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party reiterated Cuba's solidarity in the face of this difficult circumstance.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla also extended his condolences to the relatives of those who disappeared after the rainfall, which exceeded 600 millimeters in a single day, one of the highest recorded in the country in that period.
Local media have reported at least 36 people dead and 40 missings, while hundreds of people have been displaced from their homes.
Drinking water, electricity, and telephone services, among others, are also reported to have been affected (Source: ACN).
