In this regard, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel pointed out that to make improvements, a stronger link with the grassroots is necessary, as well as following up on the citizens´ problems.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero noted that the circumstances the country is going through require a reformulation of the Government’s work system so that “the executive-administrative activity favors giving direct attention to the priorities defined by the country.”

Marrero stressed that the measures aim to facilitate the performance of the agencies of the central administration of the State, national institutions, and local governments.

The prime minister noted that the government’s work system is constantly updated and in order to observe results based on citizens, planning must be done and goals set to allow verifying the effectiveness of the actions done.

The head of Government described as fundamental the change of mentality of cadres and their ability to take advantage of collective intelligence to search for solutions.

The meeting also reviewed the implementation of the State and Government cadres’ policy, as well as the behavior of Cuba’s economy in late January.

In this regard, Minister of Economy and Planning Alejandro Gil pointed out that several areas of the national economy show evidence of slight growth. However, there is still a long way to go to fulfill the plans.

He added that there was a slight increase in nickel, honey, charcoal, and tobacco exports, as well as in retail circulation, but it is still not enough to meet the population’s demands for goods and services, Gil noted. (Source: Prensa Latina)
