Cuba’s role in crime prevention in Latin America underscored

Havana, Mar 9 (RHC) On Thursday, Cuba's role in the fight against drugs, hacking, and other crimes were highlighted in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, by the delegate of the Executive Secretary of the Police Community of the Americas (Ameripol), Milton Fornazari.

In the context of the World Police Summit in this city, the high-ranking officer gave exclusive statements to Prensa Latina, underscoring the work of Cuba’s National Revolutionary Police (PNR) as a member of that entity.

Cuba is one of all 35 countries that make up Ameripol and has participated in the prevention and detection of crimes such as drug trafficking, organized crime, money laundering, and asset laundering, which demonstrates an interest in cooperating in regional security, Fornazari stressed.

He explained how major operations for the region were carried out successfully thanks to the participation of Cuba’s working group.

The Ameripol delegate emphasized the need to improve cooperation among all 35 police forces or homologous institutions and 30 observing organizations that make up this mechanism, whose goal is to promote and strengthen the exchange in technical-scientific and training matters.

He stressed the importance of making the exchange of intelligence information more dynamic and effective, as well as coordinating and promoting sustained actions for criminal investigation and judicial assistance among these Latin American institutions.

Ameripol is made up of countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Nicaragua, and others, who work together on technical-scientific cooperation, information exchange, support for criminal investigation, and judicial assistance. (Source: Prensa Latina)
