Heroine Melba Hernandez
Havana, Mar 9 (RHC) On Thursday, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel recalled heroine Melba Hernandez, who died nine years ago.
On his Twitter account, the president noted that she only disappeared physically, leaving an indelible legacy of dedication to the homeland.
Prime Minister Manuel Marrero paid tribute to the heroine of the attack on the Moncada garrison, on the same social network.
He described her as an example of a revolutionary woman, who was at the service of our country and other peoples of the world throughout her life.
Melba Hernandez was one of the first members of the revolutionary movement led by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, whom she met while studying Law at the University of Havana.
She would later follow him to attack the Moncada garrison, and during the organization of the Granma expedition from Mexico, and the insurrectional struggle in the Sierra Maestra Mountain range later. (Source: Prensa Latina)
