Victor Gaute and Dipankar Bhattacharya in India

New Delhi, Mar 10 (RHC) The vice president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples Víctor Gaute held a dialogue in New Delhi, India with the secretary general of the Communist Party that country (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation, Dipankar Bhattacharya.

The ICAP executive highlighted the historic ties of friendship between the peoples of both countries, as well as the expressions of solidarity received during his stay in India, and urged to achieve greater cooperation in the economic and commercial areas.

During the meeting, Bhattacharya asserted that the Cuban people show the world a model of building socialism that inspires popular movements around the world to fight against social injustices.

"All over India the struggle of the Cubans for their independence and their resistance to the US blockade is appreciated," the Indian communist militant stressed.

The figures of Ernesto Che Guevara, Fidel Castro, and Hugo Chavez are very well recognized in India, Bhattacharya pointed out in the meeting held at the Cuban embassy in New Delhi, which was also attended by the member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation Sucheta De and the Cuban diplomat Malena Rojas.

The Indian delegation expressed its hopes for the strength of the Cuban people in the face of the US imperial onslaught and informed the Cuban side about the results of the recent XI Congress of that political organization.

Gaute also addressed the current situation in Cuba and its struggle against the genocidal economic blockade imposed more than six decades ago by the U.S. government in its eagerness to destroy the Cuban revolution.

The ICAP executive referred to the island's new Constitution, which expands all citizens' rights while highlighting the growing role of women and young people in the national political sphere and detailed the scope of the new family code, which moves towards the elimination of various forms of discrimination in society.
