Cuban President wishes Pope Francis speedy recovery
Havana, March 30 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel today wished Pope Francis, hospitalized for a respiratory infection, a speedy recovery.
“We have learned that Pope Francis has been admitted for a respiratory infection. From Cuba we wish His Holiness a speedy and complete recovery," the head of state wrote on his Twitter account.
The Supreme Pontiff was transferred the day before to the Gemelli Polyclinic due to a respiratory infection. According to press reports, after performing a series of tests, the doctors ruled out Covid-19, as well as possible pneumonia or heart problems. It was also ruled out that the pope has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, pathologies that can affect the respiratory system.
For this reason, he continues to be admitted to a room in wing E on the tenth floor of that health center, the same room that he occupied for 10 days in July 2021, when he underwent colon surgery, and that was previously used in several occasions by the pontiff Saint John Paul II.
All the audiences with Pope Francis scheduled for Thursday and Friday of this week were cancelled, and space has been made on the pope’s agenda, despite the fact that the doctors are very optimistic regarding the recovery of the Supreme Pontiff. (Source: Prensa Latina)
