Cuba and Belarusian Academy of Sciences strengthen collaboration

 

Havana, April 27 (RHC) - A delegation from the Cuban scientific community visiting Belarus holds exchanges with the Academy of Sciences of that country that allow closer friendship and collaboration relations.

In a meeting with Vladimir Gusakov, president of the Presidium of the Belarusian Academy of Sciences, they discussed the preparation of an upcoming joint call for projects between this institution and the Cuban Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA).

During the visit, Martha Delgado, first vice rector of the José Antonio Echeverría Technological University of Havana, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Informatics Research Institute of the Belarusian Academy of Sciences.

In addition, the Cuban delegation visited the Institute of Physics of the Belarusian Academy of Sciences, where important research and applications of lasers, photonics, new materials and theoretical physics of non-standard models are carried out.

Last March, a delegation from the European nation's Academy of Sciences, headed by Vasili Hurski, Ph.D. in Economic Sciences and chief scientific secretary of that body, paid a visit to Cuba and participated in a meeting of the National Innovation Council. On that occasion, the delegation spoke about the formation and development of the Belarusian socio-economic model and the impact that the management of scientific, scientific-technical and innovative activity has had on it.

Both nations then signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of communications. The agreement includes policy and regulation, development and modernization of telecommunications infrastructures, electronic government, modernization and development of the postal industry, Information and Communication Technologies for development, among other aspects.
