Saharawi Minister thanks the solidarity of the Government and people of Cuba

Havana, May 12 (RHC) The Minister of Education, Teaching and Training of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, Jatri Adduh, thanked the Government and people of Cuba for the support and solidarity with his country.

The senior official recalled the historic ties between both nations for more than 40 years and highlighted the role of Cuban collaborators in the formation of several generations of Sahrawis.

He pointed that for more than four decades, thousands of children and young people have been trained under the guidance of Cuban educators, both in refugee camps with teacher brigades, and in Cuban schools and universities where a group of them is still studying.

In 1977, 22 young Sahrawis arrived in Cuba to begin their studies and in 1982 the first eight doctors graduated from Higher Education centers obtained their degrees, while more than two thousand graduated as doctors, professors, computer scientists and other specialties.

Adduh stated that as part of his visit to Havana to participate in the central activities for the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Polisario Front, he met with the authorities of the sphere, to review and update the educational agreements.

The Sahrawi minister met with Reynaldo Velázquez, Vice Minister of Education, with whom he discussed the historic bilateral relations between their institutions and highlighted the successes of the graduations of thousands of young people in various disciplines and specialties.

As part of the program, he also met with Fernando González, president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, who conveyed to him the firm position of that entity in defense of the Saharawi people and their legitimate cause. (Source: Prensa Latina)
