Havana, May 21 (RHC)-- The dynamic test with a view to the elections of governors and deputy governors of Cuba's provinces is being carried out today to check the necessary assurances for the voting act to be held next Sunday, May 28th.

The president of the National Electoral Council (CEN), Alina Balseiro, recently explained that during the exercise they will simulate the voting, the scrutiny, the counting and the validation of the results.

For this purpose, they will use the computer system designed for this purpose by the University of Informatics Sciences of the island.

"The CEN, in compliance with its mission, organizes, directs and supervises the development of this process, for which it approved the chronogram, information calendar and other documents that govern it", said Balseiro during a press conference.

In this sense, they developed actions such as the updating of the computer system that supports the electoral exercise, the training of the municipal and provincial authorities, as well as the deputies appointed to preside jointly with them, the voting acts in each territory.

The Municipal Assemblies of People's Power of the Caribbean nation, except for that of the special municipality Isla de la Juventud, shall become electoral colleges on the agreed date, and the delegates to those instances shall be in charge of electing by free, equal, direct and secret vote.

It is up to the President of the Republic to propose the persons to occupy the positions of governors and vice-governors, said Balseiro, and added that if one or both candidates are not elected, the CEN will inform the President for the purpose of submitting another proposal.

"The new election will be held within 10 days," he added.

The voting acts require the presence of more than half of the delegates that make up the Municipal Assembly of People's Power, without taking into account possible vacancies, the president of the CEN pointed out.

She added that if that number is not reached, the municipal electoral body will set a new meeting date within the following seven days.
