Matanzas, Cuba, May 25 (RHC) Promoting tourism for Congresses, Events, Conventions and Incentives (MICE) has become the main strategy of the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR) in Varadero.
According to the website www.radio26.cu, developing the presence of MICE tourism in Varadero is a complementary way to attract more foreign tourists.
Mintur’s commercial specialist in the province, Iralis Delgado, said this type of variant has a high value for the destinations as it produces a very high economic impact with an average spending per tourist higher than in the case of leisure tourism, according to reports from the Association of International Congresses and Conventions.
The Meliá Internacional hotel is one of the facilities in Varadero that has great value for MICE, as it has high-performance rooms that have already served as venues for important events such as the recent 69th edition of the World Cocktail Championship and the Pan American Judo Open, he said.
Delgado commented that the MICE variant is joined by tour operator leisure groups, circuits, and wholesalers, also key because they anticipate demand and bring additional income to the establishments in the form of space rental, and food and beverage services, among others.
The website explained that in international spheres, MICE tourism is experiencing a solid recovery by showing a positive growth rate as it not only boosts the economy but also provides significant opportunities for tourism and the hotel industry. (Source: Prensa Latina)
