China and Cuba highlight the value and consolidation of fraternal ties

Havana, June 19 (RHC) China and Cuba this Monday highlighted the steps taken in order to consolidate their friendly ties, their value and the will to work for greater achievements in the respective paths of building socialism.

China’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Sun Weidong, during a farewell evening for Cuban ambassador Carlos Miguel Pereira, welcomed the high level of ties, exchanges and close strategic coordination while promoting equity, international justice and common development.

He underscored the role of both presidents in guiding the evolution of ties, the close work between both foreign ministries and mutual support on key issues for the interests of each side.

Sun especially praised Pereira's work in his current and previous diplomatic mission, after acknowledging the results of his enormous efforts to further foster high-level exchanges and deepen cooperation in different fields.

He wished him success in his new duties, expressed confidence that he will continue paying attention and support to the cause of Sino-Cuban friendship, and expressed his wishes that the fraternity between both peoples be eternal and intergenerational.

For his part, Pereira also referred to the unprecedented development achieved by bilateral ties in almost four years of intense and tireless work, and thanked the Embassy staff for their performance.

He commented on what China represents in the current era, the relevance of understanding it well with its peculiarities and the weight as a key player on the world stage.

He also expressed satisfaction for meeting the objectives set by taking stock of what has been achieved both politically and economically, commercially, financially and in cooperation, with China establishing itself as Cuba's second largest trading partner.

The event was also attended by representatives of the Government, the Communist Party and other Chinese institutions, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Beijing, businessmen, Cuban officials and compatriots residing in China. (Source: PL)
