Cuban president highlights contributions of Civil Aviation Organization

Havana, July 1 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel today recognized the work of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in the development of civil aviation in an orderly and safe manner.

This was expressed by the president during a meeting held in this capital with ICAO Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar, reported the Presidency of the Republic on its Twitter account.

During the meeting, Díaz-Canel ratified the Caribbean nation's commitment to the objectives of the Organization and thanked it for its support in terms of cooperation.

Meanwhile, Salazar noted that the island is a valued and respected member of the ICAO and thanked the head of state for his country's active participation in the organization.

"It is an honor to be here" said the senior civil aviation official.

The meeting was attended by officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Transport, Eduardo Rodriguez and members of the ICAO in the Caribbean nation.

The ICAO has been operating since 1944 within the framework of the United Nations, as an organization that establishes standards and recommended methods for the protection and security of civil aviation, as well as for the protection and preservation of the environment (Source: Prensa Latina).
