Panama City, July 30 (RHC) -- A caravan organized by the Asociación Martiana de Cubanos Residentes en Panamá (Amcrp) will tour the main arteries of this capital today to condemn the U.S. blockade of the island.

Since its first edition in March 2021, the eleventh caravan will demand the end of the economic, commercial and financial siege, which this time is also part of the commemorative program for the 70th anniversary of the Day of National Rebellion, on July 26, 1953.

The coordinator of the collective, Humberto Pérez, told Prensa Latina that as is already a tradition, the initiative will start at the University of Panama and will end at the emblematic Belisario Porras Park, next to the busts of National Hero José Martí and General Antonio Maceo, icons of Cuba's liberation struggles.

In the caravan and the summary meeting, as usual, he said, will participate national members of solidarity groups and popular organizations, as well as members of the state mission.

The demonstration, he said, will be accompanied by our music, flags, banners allegorical to the noble cause for the elimination of that hostile policy that tries to suffocate and surrender the Cuban family, but that will never succeed.

Pérez also pointed out that, together with these actions, Amcrp is promoting other initiatives such as the shipment to the island of containers with medical supplies to contribute to the health system, affected by the unilateral measures and sanctions of the White House.

Recently, U.S. President Joe Biden extended the blockade against Cuba for another year, which for Amcrp, according to a communiqué, represents an unreasonable move, as part of Washington's whim to make the Caribbean country the backyard of the supposed owners of the world, which we will continue to resist as a nation, the group emphasized.
