Cuban Foreign Minister congratulates ASEAN on the anniversary of its founding
Havana, Aug 8 (RHC) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez congratulated the member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for reaching today the 56th anniversary of the founding of the bloc in a climate of excellent relations with Cuba.
Rodríguez highlighted on Twitter that the Caribbean island maintains friendly ties with this regional entity, with the potential to strengthen mutually beneficial multisectoral cooperation. In 2020, Cuba adhered to the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in Southeast Asia, which increased the opportunities to deepen its ties in different areas.
ASEAN systematically expresses its rejection of the economic, financial and commercial siege imposed by the United States on Cuba, which it expresses in voting on United Nations resolutions that demand an end to this coercive policy.
The influential regional bloc was founded on August 8, 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand, and is made up of 10 countries from that region. (Source: PL)
