Hanoi, September 11 (RHC) -– Vietnam and Cuba will continue to actively promote effective cooperation mechanisms through the singing of high-level agreements and the establishment of joint economic projects.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez agreed upon this view during talks in Hanoi on September 10th.
The ministers briefed each other on recent political and economic developments in their respective countries and discussed measures to promote solidarity and comprehensive cooperation. The officials also compared notes on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Rodriguez expressed his admiration for Vietnam’s tremendous renewal achievements in all aspects and hailed the Vietnam-Cuba cooperation in international organizations and multilateral forums such as the UN, Non-Aligned Movement and the East Asia- Latin America Cooperation Forum.
For his part, Foreign Minister Binh Minh affirmed Vietnam grants great importance to its ties with Cuba, and called for the promotion of diplomatic contacts and bilateral economic projects.
The two diplomats suggested the Intergovernmental Committee for economic, scientific and technological cooperation can improve the efficiency of bilateral cooperation, especially in promising areas such as agriculture, oil and gas, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, et cetera.
Under the framework of the visit, the Cuban Foreign Minister is scheduled to pay courtesy visits to General Secretary of the Vietnamese Communist Party, Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and meet with the Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Foreign Relations Hoang Binh Quan.
