President of the Angolan Assembly received the Cuban delegation
Havana, Oct 27 (RHC) The president of the National Assembly of Angola, Carolina Cerqueira, received today the Cuban delegation present at the 147th Assembly of the Interparliamentary Union, headed by the vice president of Parliament Ana María Mari Machado.
During the meeting, the Cuba delegation gave the head of the Angolan Legislature a letter of invitation sent by her counterpart and president of the Cuban Council of State, Esteban Lazo, to visit the Caribbean nation next year.
In statements to the press after the brief meeting, Mari highlighted the affection and deep ties of friendship that unite both peoples, governments and parliaments.
The vice president of the island's Legislature commented that they addressed issues such as the current common challenges for two peace-loving countries for their people and for the world, and the contributions they can make from their respective bodies.
She thanked Angolans for their affection for the Cubans and reaffirmed the commitment to continue strengthening relations between parliaments and governments. She also expressed gratitude for the hospitality received in Luanda and assessed the holding of the Interparliamentary Union meeting in Angola as successful. (Source: PL)
