According to spokesperson Wang Wenbin, the Cuban prime minister's visit to China gives continuity to high-level exchanges between both nations

Havana, Nov 1 (RHC) The Chinese Foreign Ministry today highlighted the relevance of the upcoming visit to China by Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations.

According to spokesperson Wang Wenbin, both countries are good friends walking together and good comrades with common goals. He said that the visit is an opportunity to deepen the special friendly relations between China and Cuba in the new era and jointly build a China-Cuba community with a shared future.

Wang added that Marrero's stay gives continuity to high-level exchanges between the two nations and in particular mentioned the latest meetings between presidents Miguel Díaz-Canel and Xi Jinping.

The prime minister will arrive this Thursday with an agenda until November 9, and will participate in the opening on November 5 of the 6th China International Import Exhibition in Shanghai, as well as in business forums and meetings with Chinese businessmen.

In addition, he will meet with main authorities of the government and the Communist Party of China.

Recently, both countries held the 30th session of the Intergovernmental Commission, which was co-chaired by Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas in the context of a working visit to the Asian country.

Cabrisas also signed agreements in various spheres, including biotechnology, renewable energy sources, food production, tourism, information communications, the sugar industry, transportation and commerce.

Havana and Beijing recently celebrated 63 years of diplomatic ties, although historical ties between the two countries date back to the 19th century.

Cuba was the first country in the Western Hemisphere to establish relations with the People's Republic of China, founded in 1949 by leader Mao Zedong. (Source: PL)
