Cuban minister highlights links between universities of Cuba and Russia

 

Havana, Feb 7 (RHC) The Minister of Higher Education of Cuba, Walter Baluja, highlighted the strong ties that unite the universities of his country and Russia, thanks to bilateral cooperation.

At the Cuba-Russia forum, held within the framework of the 14th International Congress of Higher Education University 2024, Baluja pointed out that despite geographical distances, both nations share common interests and a traditional familiarity that has allowed them to work together professionally.

He appreciated the current state of relations in educational matters, while expressing his confidence that these ties can be expanded in the intercultural field and friendship between peoples.

The minister indicated that the main objective of the forum is to expand the number of collaboration projects, involving a greater number of professionals and students.

Meanwhile, the Rector of the Moscow State Linguistic University, Irina Kraeva, stressed the importance of collaboration to strengthen higher education, and highlighted the importance of the Congress as an ideal space to strengthen the historical ties between her country and the island.

She highlighted that Russia and Cuba consider education as a priority in national development, a position demonstrated through projects and programs to improve the quality of higher education.

Kraeva specified that one of the common approaches between both countries in the field of education is the priority given to the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals contained in the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

According to the Cuban News Agency, 24 agreements were signed within the framework of the forum, adding to another 100 existing ones to transform higher education in both nations. (Source: PL)
