Havana, May 3 (RHC)-- The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, today reaffirmed the will to defend independence and sovereignty in the face of the growing hostility of the United States.

Before more than 1,100 delegates to the International Meeting in Solidarity with Cuba and against Imperialism, held at the Havana Convention Palace, the president thanked the international support for the Cuban cause and affirmed that his country will follow the path set since January 1, 1959.

In this sense, he highlighted the importance of promoting the support movement and visits by activists, union members, representatives of organizations and supportive people so that they know the reality of the country and the struggles of its people.

"There is no better way to know our reality than by sharing with us, as you have done these days, living our resistance, our creativity and our spirit of struggle and victory."

He also pointed out that each friend who visits the island is further evidence that Cuba is not alone or isolated, and continues to open its doors to millions of women and men around the world.

When taking stock of the results of the meeting, he pointed out that the three resolutions approved today by the participants (in support of Palestine, solidarity with Cuba, and in defense of the right to peace and sovereignty of the peoples) also represent the feeling of the island's population.

He pointed out that the work of the three commissions that met at the meeting reflected the understanding of the attendees about the global scenario and the current situation in Cuba.

The head of state stated that due to the complex economic situation facing the island, the Cuban people celebrated International Workers' Day the day before with rallies throughout the country, which in the case of Havana was attended by delegates. to this appointment.

He highlighted that the occasion demonstrated the commitment of the Cuban people to their Revolution, and their willingness to defend independence, sovereignty, their right to live in peace, without blockades or sanctions, and without surrendering.
