Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister begins visit to Ethiopia
Addis Ababa, Jul 22 (RHC) Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Elio Rodriguez began today a visit to Ethiopia that includes meetings with senior government officials and members of the Friendship Association between the two peoples.
Rodriguez will participate in the first session of the Preparatory Committee for the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development, scheduled for July 22-26 in this capital, said a press release from the Havana Embassy here.
The agenda also includes the laying of a wreath in honor of the 163 Cuban fighters who died in the Battle of Karramara in 1978 to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the African country over the Ogaden desert in the face of external expansionist attempts.
Likewise, the Caribbean Vice Chancellor will preside over the event on the occasion of the National Rebellion Day on July 26th, in which members of the diplomatic and state missions of the island, Cuban residents and members of the Association of Friendship between the Peoples of Ethiopia and Cuba will participate.
The visit will be an opportunity to highlight the historical ties of friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the two countries, exchange views on issues of common interest and reaffirm the will to continue strengthening bilateral relations. (Source: Prensa Latina)
